Challenges: Season One

The first Challenge Season will open up in EXODE and feature: leaderboards and regular distribution of challenges for the very first time.

They will also open up deployment of Fire Worlds and Ice Worlds up in your list.

Syndicate Raid Duo, our first EXODE Factions content and also our first multiplayer challenge, is still being set up, with “chances” to come in at some point during the season.

How to Participate

Only accounts equipped with cards and Origin cards have access to Colonization Challenges.

Challenges are distributed automatically to your accounts and are accessible thanks to a regular button right from your Manager homepage.

You can then participate by selecting a challenge from the list, validating and submitting teams to it.

Remember your teams are not validated until you click on this submit button.

How to Win?

Results of your teams will be calculated and shared in a game screen called your Mission Report.

Every challenge has some ongoing “Mystery”, which if solved successfully, grants 6000 score.

Every challenge has some ongoing “conditions” which can give optional score.

This score contributes to your position in a global leaderboard.

There will be rewards for your position there, and rewards for participating and fulfilling challenges.

What rewards?

Our rewards will be shared during the season.

This will follow the model you have seen before, but only fulfilling challenges will give you more rewards.

You can expect boosters and EXOCREDITS, and maybe even one Fire World and Ice World pack!

Challenge Distribution

The following rules and distribution are shared for normal challenges.

Fire Worlds and Ice Worlds will work the same way but have an individual generation and a separate leaderboard.

You will receive 5 challenges when season launches and 3 new challenges every week in the next two weeks.

This determines a total of 11 challenges in three weeks.

These will be your set of “normal challenges”, all sharing the same pool of assignments.

For the sake of competition, all players will receive the same challenges.

This is the rule for normal challenges: Ice Worlds and Fire Worlds will have a unique procedural generation, so sometimes you will have it easy, and sometimes not.

They are generated procedurally: although EXODE is responsible for every single bit of code and we have a difficulty weight, there is no “strict” control on balance. it's made to “challenge us” (hence the name!) and have some wild difficulty here or there.

It's a dangerous world!

Leveling Up and Coming Back

Challenges you completed successfully will “Level Up” and come back once you get their results.

This means the first five challenges can level up twice: first time to Level 2, adding up themselves (up to five challenges) when they come back the next week; then once more to Level 3.

If, using crazy strategy and no bad luck, you get through and level them up to Level 3, you will have a serious pool of challenges to tackle.

The second group of three challenges can level up once to Level 2.

The third group of three will have no time to level up.

Normal Level 1 challenges give 6000 score for their mystery. Level 2 and 3 will have more optional points and give superior score too.

Take note that this can give a huge pressure on your teams and characters!

You should select which challenge you want to participate into and level up, because you are likely not to be able to sustain successfully all teams and rotation on all challenges in a season.

Because of the cooldown system, it makes sense to think about one first team, then a second team in a rotation. There *will be* normal reasons to fail, in addition to the rolls!

This is a game and it has risks!

Challenge Rotation

Challenges will be deployed according to a “weekly rotation”, giving plenty of time (the entire week) for players to decide on their participating assets.

- Teams you validated will be “locked up” every Monday. Calculations will normally happen the same day, and new challenges received.

- Characters used in a challenge result will be on cooldown for one week (actually until the next Monday)

In case of issues: any problem will be worked on during the week, with absolutely no impact on what comes next as your characters were to be on cooldown during that time.

Assignments

Normal challenges all share their own pool of assignments.

Other separate pools are: one for all Ice Worlds / one for all Fire Worlds / one for all FACTIONS Challenges.

Characters used in a pool of assignment will be locked up for the week on the challenge you select, but you can use the same characters in other pools.

This is made clear and simple thanks to our Card Selector system which automatically says if an asset is reserved.

When?

Challenges are set up for launch on December 8th.

The first season will last until December 28th.

Starting December 29th, your last teams will be processed and we then expect a season cooldown.

If all these times are respected (bearing in mind we are a single developer team!) we expect second season to begin on January 4th.

Good luck pilots! And have fun with the next gameplay!
