Food Buffs and Debuffs
Buffs
Every food has chances to receive specific buffs 1) in addition to its general attributes such as nutrients, taste, size looks. These are buffs given for “eating it raw”.
Rare variants have an automatic +1 buff that is also created for it.
Prepared, Cooked and Steeped variants all have chances to receive additional buffs specific to them and chances to keep or lose raw version bonuses and maluses.2) 3) 4)
There are also chances for buffs related to a specific dish mode to exist, such as having one buff activated “only as dessert”). 5)
Debuffs
Debuffs work in a similar way.
One very important difference is that chances for debuffs are strongly related to the Toxicity level of your food item. Stronger toxicity has more chances for debuffs, and also for more debuffs to appear.6)
The second difference is that there is no specific debuff to dish types, to rare variants and no specific debuff to appear in other prepared modes, such as Prepared, Cooked or Steeped.
The third difference is that there are increased chances for debuffs to be lost when doing preparation. This means that more “civilized” versions also usually are more beneficial.
Opposed Buffs / Debuffs
The game first applies buffs for the raw version.
Then it cannot generate debuffs which are strictly opposed to a main buff that exists on the raw variant of the ingredient.7)
They can exist however if you have a conditional buff (on rare, prepared, cooked or steeped variants), instead of a raw variant buff.
Prepared variants have 40% chances to receive an additional buff specific to it, and 80% chances to keep existing buffs from the “raw” version.
Cooked variants have 70% chances to receive an additional buff specific to it, but also only 50% chances to keep existing buffs from the raw version.
Steeped variants have 90% chances to receive an additional buff, but also only 50% chances to keep existing buffs from the raw version.
To create dish specific buffs, two rolls are made. The first has 60% chances and the second one 30% percent chances.
Three rolls are made. For an average toxicity, the first one has 80% chances to create a debuff, the second one 50%, and the third one 20%. But toxicity/10 is added to this roll, which means low toxicity will never had three debuffs, and high toxicity will aways have at least one debuff.
