RPG Mode was “the default version” introduced since the second major alpha version, called “version E”. It was separated from the main build in 2025 to make EXODE more accessible to new players!This is an old revision of the document!
RPG Mode
RPG Mode, also called Expert Mode, is a special mode in EXODE.1)
This special mode gives you access to three additional phases of game setup:
- card setup, which allows you to customize origin, starship, crew, passengers, cargo and escorts
- crew investigation, which explores every attribute, background and personality generated with your starting crew members
- docking phase which allows to prepare for the upcoming evacuation and check in advance who is currently on leave or in infirmary
In addition, an intermediate phase (with a game menu) is proposed after game setup, to check that you are ready for starting the game.
RPG Mode is a way to start with more detailed and more prepared experience in EXODE.
... or start right away with Direct Evacuation!
**Direct Evacuation** on the other hand will make you start right away, skipping all of these phases and picking an Origin and automatically determined setup.
